DIY Wedding Decor
Wedding season is far from being over, which can be happy news or nerve wracking news depending on your stage in the wedding game. We know that you want your wedding to be special and to reflect the personality of the happy couple. Whether you're the blissful bride, stressed out mother-of-the bride, first time wedding planner or a seasoned pro we have some projects that will add some personal flair to your wedding and keep some money in your pocket.First and foremost, a very important rule for wedding decorations is COLOR! Have a color palette in mind but don't get uptight about it. Not everything at your wedding has to be the exact same shade of coral or aqua for it to be beautiful and cohesive. Adding some different shades and tones to your color scheme adds visual interest. Look how all of these different shades of aqua compliment each other. And if you give yourself a little slack in your color scheme then you will avoid the huge headache of making sure everything has to match perfectly.
We are big fans of adding a little sparkle to your wedding. It is the fastest way to change a simple crate or banner into a beautiful addition to any display!
Talk about some cute sparkle details! This simple Mr. & Mrs. banner is taken to another level with a little hodge-podge and gold glitter. When making this banner be aware that glitter can be a little bit of a mess. We recommend doing this project outside or in the tub so you can just rinse the glitter away when you are done. Once your banner is dry shake of the extra glitter to avoid a vacuuming nightmare at your venue.
Can you guess what these adorable chalkboard table numbers are made out of?
If you guessed plain, old pencils then you're correct! Talk about a cheap and adorable replacement to expensive table numbers! All we did was take some #2 pencils and put a coat of gold spray paint on them and TA-DA they are transformed! Glue them to the back of your little chalk numbers and you're done! And it doesn't have to be gold, pick whatever color suits your wedding and go crazy.
Letters are also a great way to personalize a wedding and they are so versatile. Take this simple wood M for example, it would be easy to cover it in glitter, stain it, cover it in scrapbook paper, paint it or cover it in washi tape, the options really are endless. They can easily be transformed to match the vibe of your wedding.
This M was transformed into a fun guest book that will be forever treasured by the happy couple. If you are having a big event then consider multiple initials or an & to give guests more space to sign and leave their best wishes.
One element that has been in most of our images are paper fans. Paper fans are such an easy way to add a pop of color and a new texture to your wedding. Plus they are just paper so you know it is going to be easy on the budget. If you are feeling confident in your crafting abilities then you can buy scrapbook paper and make our own. If you're a rookie crafter then simply buy one of our kits! I can testify from personal experience that if you can staple two pieces of paper together then you will have wonderful success with the kit.
The best news in this whole blog post is that everything you need to create beautiful accents to your wedding or reception are available at ADORNit!
